So, you’re going to a festival – how prepared are you? We’ve been on the search for the best mobile apps to equip your phone with to make your festival and camping experience fantastically fun and stress free.
CAN’T FIND YOUR TENT?
Whether it’s your first festival or you’re a seasoned festival goer, you’ll find that the standard procedure is to arrive, pitch your tent quickly, dump all of your stuff and wonder off to begin an afternoon and evening of food, drink and music. Once you’ve had one too many or find yourself falling asleep on a camping chair, you trudge on back to your tent, only, you head in the wrong direction…or was it the right way? Was that tree always there? Hmmm… you get the drift!
Tent Finder for iOS (£0.79) or Find My Tent for Android (Free), are both simple but rather handy apps that allow you to quickly save a location using GPS and then select your saved location for walking directions straight back to the comfort of your tent.
LOSE YOUR FRIENDS OR FAMILY?
Ever struggled to get through to your friends when they’ve gone AWOL on a night out? Or wondering where the kids have got to en route to buying an ice cream? The Find My Friends app is free to use and saves the panic of calling over and over again if you’ve lost one of your clan and they can’t hear their phone in the dance tent or the middle of a crowd.
For it to work, you just need to invite friends or family to share locations via the app, and once they accept, you can start following immediately. If at any time you don’t want to be followed, you can hide your location with a single swipe of a switch.
CAN’T WORK OUT THE SONG?
Festivals are great for seeing new performers or listening to new songs from your favourite band. The only problem is trying to remember what that reeeally good song was, by that reeeally great band?!
Shazam is most certainly the answer – all you have to do is tap the Shazam button, and the app will identify what you’re listening to within a few seconds.
BE FIRST AID PREPARED
Amidst all the fun and excitement of festivals, it is super important to remember to keep everyone safe and well looked after in the case of an accident or emergency.
The British Red Cross have built a free app that features easy-to-follow, simple advice and guides for all sorts of first aid scenarios. The great thing is that all this information is built into the app itself, so if you’re in a remote field or signal dead spot, you can still get all the information without needing an internet connection.
GOOD FESTIVAL ALL-ROUNDER
In the true nature of the Swiss Army Knife, the free Festival Ready app from the same brand offers a selection of handy tools, ideal for festivals.
The app is light-hearted and filled with all sorts, including 3D-Navigation, Live eather updates, Packing Checklist, Camping Tips and a whole lot more.
